Kate Chiappinelli - New Student Director for YSP

YSP has a new student director...
The Young Scientist Program welcomes Kate Chiappinelli as the new YSP student director. Kate graduated from Haverford College in 2007 with a B.S. in Biology and Music. She is a fourth year student in the Developmental Biology Program and works in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Goodfellow, where her research involves investigating epigenetic alterations in endometrial (uterine) cancer. As a YSP volunteer for the past several years, Kate has been most involved in the Summer Focus Program as an instructor for our writing course. We look forward to Kate's leadership over the 2010-11 academic year.

Also, a BIG thanks to our outgoing student director, Chris Affolter for helping YSP to continue growing and expanding!!

Family Med Program

For a fourth year, YSP and the St. Louis Science Center are once again partnering up to offer the Family Med Program. This program offers 4 hands-on medical training sessions for children, 5th grade and older and their families during Fall 2010. Participants of the Family Med Program learn about human anatomy & physiology as well as disease through demonstrations provided by the YSP Anatomy team.

We will kick off the program on Saturday, August 28 with demonstrations related to the Heart. Additional sessions will be held on September 25 (Respiratory system), October 23 (Digestive system), and November 20 (Brain and Nervous system).
