YSP 2010 Fall Nano Medical School Features Dr. Monique Williams


The YSP Fall Nano Medical School on Tuesday, December 7th featured a talk given by Dr. Monique Williams entitled Memory Loss, Is it Alzheimer's Disease?”. Dr. Monique Williams received her Bachelor's Degree and Medical Degree from Washington University. She is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry and her research examines the relationship of vascular risk factors and Alzheimer’s disease. Many vascular risk factors, e.g. hypertension, diabetes, are more prevalent in African Americans, and several studies indicate that African Americans experience a higher incidence and prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Williams is the Director of the African American Outreach Satellite at the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Washington University School of Medicine.
